Pros and Cons of Attending Seminars

Posted on June 1st, 2008 in Wealth | No Comments »

It was a wonderful day. Two wonderful sessions, one about Marketing and another about Business planning, were conducted in my city at a grand hotel. The third session is on creativity which is being held today. I will post about it today evening.

Pros:

  • You get lot of contacts and new friends
  • You get some new inputs and ideas about business stuff
  • Your opportunity to show off your knowledge when you get your chance
  • Market your own business to other people

Cons:

  • Teaching will not be focussed because participants are hetrogenous
  • Sometimes you would hear the same thing previously read in a book
  • Trainers may be arrogant sometimes and try to walk over you
  • You can’t attend calls on your mobile
  • Your ass becomes numb after sitting all day!

If you are truly serious about making it to the top as a great business man, I would recommend at least 1 such 2-3 day seminar per month. More than that would be a waste of time. Less than that means that you may not be updated with latest trends. One advantage of a seminar over a book is that the concepts in a book may be outdated as your read it.

The Secret of Success in Business and Making Money!

Posted on May 28th, 2008 in Life | 2 Comments »

I have been doing business in the internet for the past 2 years and now I have learned something which experience has tought me. Think of yourself as a ship and the goal as a light house. Focus on one light house and keep traveling towards that. You can vary your speed, even take rest from traveling for sometime but keep going in that direction. Lack of focus wastes lot of energy and time. Think of traveling towards a light house for a while and changing your directions towards another light house you think may be better, wastes a lot of time right?

Have a time for personal reflection, spend time in natural surrounding and start to focus your thoughts on the end result. This would help you to avoid dissipating your energies.

Start focusing on one project and keep working on it until it gets streamlined. Once you have worked enough, a time will come when it can take care of itself. Or if it generates enough profits, you can employ some one to take care of it. Then you can start the next project. As you keep doing it, starting new projects and making it streamlined will be a cake walk for you! Thats how big business men do it. And thats the way I do it.

HDFC Bank Ripping Off their Customers!

Posted on May 26th, 2008 in Life | 2 Comments »

‘Customer is the king’, is it just a saying which makes no sense in today’s business world? Looks like its true. Today’s big business which have grown due to their customers no longer care about them (actually us!).

The manager is shouting at the customer, “Pay Rs.18000 to get your account closed, or else we can’t close it.” Seems weird doesn’t it. When I dug a little deeper into the story I found out that the customer had an account with the bank several years ago. The account had to have a minimum balance of Rs.2500 per month on the average. At some point of time, looks like he had requested through phone to get his account closed but the bank told him to submit an account closure form, but he forgot. He withdrew all his balance and the account had zero balance.

Five years has passed off by and each month the bank debited the penalty amount from his account (for not maintaining the minimum balance) through the years accumulating his negative balance. Now he gets a legal notice that he owes the bank Rs.18000. He has to pay that amount for not using the services of the bank for 5 years!

Isn’t this day light robbery? Banks no longer care about their customers. They could have called up the customer after 3 months of negative balance and intimated him that his account has still not been closed. What can consumers do? Lament about this story to their friends. What else? Any ideas?

Video Marketing through Traffic Geyser

Posted on May 25th, 2008 in Traffic Generation | 1 Comment »

I just created an account at TrafficGeyser.com. It cost me $147 for 1 month subscription and I am allowed to upload 500 videos. Each Video will be submitted to 25+ YouTube like websites. Whats the catch? They say that when lot of such videos are posted in different sites, Google sees that as an important video and brings up in the top 10 SERPs for that keyword. I tried some low competition keywords (having results less than 10k when searched with quotes) and found that it works! I have not got any significant traffic or sales yet, but yes I hope that this thing is wonderful and can be used as a white hat traffic driving method.

Making money by writing and selling eBooks

Posted on May 21st, 2008 in Book Reviews, Making Money Online | No Comments »

I just read an ebook about making money by selling ebooks. What it basically says is that every ebook is not unique, most of them contain the same information over and over but still there are buyers for the ebook due to the large volume of users on the internet. This point seems true. I have tried to write up a 15 page ebook and have sold it before for $5 per piece in forums. I had made nearly $50 out of it. But if I take it seriously and market it, may be I would have made more money.

You have to write an affective sales page to market your ebook. For tips on writing the sales letter go here. For tips on getting a good domain name go here. I would also recommend you to setup an affiliate program at PayDotCom.com or ClickBank.com so that you can sit back and let the affiliates make the sales for you.

I have not got into this method yet because of lack of time. Try it and let me know if it worked.

Top 5 SEO Optimization Tips

Posted on May 19th, 2008 in SEO | No Comments »

Simply put, the following 5 points are all that you will ever need for optimizing your website for search engine traffic. I hope you find it useful!

1. Resolve to complete an SEO audit of your website.

Set aside time to review your index page and each of your internal pages. If you have a large site with thousands of pages, first go over the most important pages that need more traffic and work your way down the list Your SEO audit can be as simple as making sure your <title> tags matches the content on your pages and implementing the correct alt text on your images. More advanced audits can include completely restructuring a page to target a new set of keyword phrases or editing your entire site to feature more <hi>, <h2> and <h3> tags.

2. Resolve to do more keyword research.

Have your products or services changed? If so, what new keywords should you target or omit? Remember, SEQ is an ongoing process. Make sure the keywords you initially targeted are still relevant and resolve to perform ongoing research throughout the New Year by following trends and speaking directly with your website visitors. Those pursuing SEQ success may also want to resolve to audit their competitors and the search results pages where those competing sites appear.

3. Resolve to update your content.

Set aside at least an hour a week or more to write new content. Qne idea might be to fill out existing product reviews with new keywords you have identified. An easy way to create content is to start writing a weblog. Topic ideas might include posts about your products or services, feedback you have received from visitors or just something that interests you and is related to your website. Update your weblog frequently (at least once a week) and make sure that it’s easy for your audience to access. Publicizing the availability of RSS feeds allows for greater exposure and gives your most active customers quick access to content that could compel them to act on your unique offerings.

4. Resolve to obtain new incoming links.

Try to get a few new links from respectable sources every week. There are many ways to do this including making new friends within social networks, deploying widgets, guest blogging for others in your industry and generating media attention. Links to your index (home) page are good but also get links to your sub (secondary) pages specific product pages for ecommerce stores or your best blog posts. Ideally, try to vary the anchor text slightly on all incoming links, but too much variance will diminish the overall value.

5. Resolve to be active in social networks and media sites.

Does your website have a Linkedln, MySpace or Facebook profile? Are there any industry-specific social networks that you should consider? Social networks continue to gain momentum and attract an even larger audience. This is an easy way to get more exposure for your website and in some ways it’s equivalent to having multiple websites, providing greater exposure and links. In addition, there is tremendous potential for receiving new leads just within your social networks. Social media sites such as Newsvine, Digg, Mlxx, Reddit and others are exceptional places to build links, generate awareness and keep that traffic rolling in throughout the year.

Ego and Spirit

Posted on May 19th, 2008 in Life | No Comments »

This is a conversation between two babies—Ego and Spirit—while in the womb. It is just an analogy of our outlook at life. We should believe that there are better days in our future and keep going on through tough times. Here’s the story…

Spirit says to Ego, ‘I know you are going to find this hard to accept, but I believe there is life after birth.’ Ego responds, ‘Don’t be foolish. Look around you. This is all there is. Why must you always be thinking about something beyond this reality? Accept your lot in life.’ Spirit quietens down for a while, but not for long. ‘Ego, now don’t get angry, but I also believe that there is a Mother.’ ‘A Mother!’ Ego laughs. ‘How can you say that? You’ve never seen a Mother, you don’t know what Mother is. Why can’t you accept that this is all there is? You are here alone with me. This is your reality.’ ‘Ego,’ Spirit begs, ‘please listen. What about those constant pressures we both feel, those movements that make us so uncomfortable sometimes, the feeling that we are being squeezed in as we grow? I think we shall soon have a new life, that we shall see light.’ Ego replies, ‘You have never seen light. How do you know what it is? These pressures and darkness is what life is about.’ Spirit tries not to bother Ego again but cannot resist one last try. ‘Ego,’ she says, ‘I will not bother you again. But I d believe that after all this discomfort not only shall we see light but also experience the bliss of meeting Mother.’ Ego’s reply is, of course, that Spirit is truly mad.

So are you going to be the spirit, or the ego? I choose spirit, who is with me?

How I got into Internet Marketing

Posted on May 18th, 2008 in Life, Marketing, Wealth | 2 Comments »

I have been doing internet marketing for the past 2 years, but when I look back at the beginning, it was all an accident. I was a great fan of computer games, and hence I was an avid reader of the Indian PC magazine called digit. One day I was very bored and took up an old issue of that magazine and was browsing over it, suddenly I saw an article which talked about how to make money through internet by placing AdSense ads on blogger sites. I immediately created one and put up the ads (I had little HTML knowledge from school syllabus!). I had no patience to read their TOS. All I knew was, they pay when the ads are clicked. I clicked the ads myself (LOL) and reached $100 in a period of 2 months. (Clicking ads every day for several minutes). I was too confident that Google will send me the check. One morning when I woke up to check my stats, I saw that they have closed my account. I sent them several mails and no response!

That was the first ever attempt to make my own money (I was 19 years by then). I got too frustrated and got determined to make money off the internet, no matter what the odds. I started searching Google, ran across a few people in this field and slowly started to learn about CJ.com and other online money making methods. After a month, I got my first real check of $35 from CJ.com. The image of the check is still in my eyes!

Today I have made several thousand dollars from the internet, and will make millions of dollars (if not billions) in the years to come. I love internet marketing, and its my passion!

Thank you for taking time to read my history. I will make lot of posts in the coming days about internet marketing which would be of great help to you people.

Landing Page (Sales Letter) Template

Posted on May 17th, 2008 in Marketing | No Comments »

I got this from StephensBlog.com. This is pretty useful template for anyone who is making a landing page. :)

**************

Qualify the reader with a prehead…

“Hit Them With An Attention

Getting Headline”

Tell them why they need
to act now or else miss out.

Greetings Reader,

Enter the conversation they’re already having in their mind. What problem is your product solving for them? Address this problem here. And build up to the first subhead.

There’s A Solution…

Start to educate them about what a solution might be, but don’t necessarily tell them what it is yet. What qualities would a solution have? Next subhead…

It’s My Product…

Now introduce your product as the solution that has those qualities. Then let them know about people who love your product…

Testimonials go here…

My Product Will Do This For You…

  • Write benefits…
  • that appeal…
  • to the results…
  • your reader…
  • would want…
  • from your…
  • product..

How Much Is That Worth To You?

Explain why they’d be better off by getting your product today. Tell them the price and compare it to how much it’d cost if they tried to get the same results with a different route.

Plus Your Satisfaction Is Guaranteed

Let them know if they’re not satisfied, you’ll give them a full refund. Assuming that’s what you’ll do.

Here’s How I’ll Sweeten The Deal Even More

Describe your bonuses if you’ve decided to offer any with your main product. You don’t have to if you don’t have any.

Act Now Or Lose…

Ask for action now. Tell them why they must act now for the best deal.

Order Link…

Thanks for reading,

Signature

PS Write something here that will have them curious to scroll up. For example, “Remember when I told you about winning a chess championship blindfolded?” This is because people often read the PS second after the headline, so you want to get them back into the copy.

PPS Remind them why they need to act RIGHT NOW.

This is just one of many sales letter templates you could use. But I suggest using one when you first get started. Here’s one to try. And a hint, look at the subheads. See how they sort of carry on the conversation by themselves? So that if you JUST read the subheads, it’d be like reading one paragraph? Try to do the same thing when you write your sales letter. Cheers, Stephen

Cheers,
